Authors: Dave Bassett and Wally Downes
The inside story of Wimbledon’s rise from non-league football to the 1988 FA Cup win, told with plenty of mischief. Shane Simpson in When Saturday Comes found that it “does offer some new and interesting insights”, stressing that the team’s success “was based upon hard work, both on and off the pitch”, though he doubted it would convince Bassett’s most vehement critics. Best for: readers who want laughs and an underdog story.
